We Continue
The Return Trip to Texas!
We left you with Spiff driving...
The last leg of the journey: We're just about to enter Texas.
And, of course, being as long to get to the center of Texas as is it to diagonally traverse the entire state of Arkansas,
There's still plenty of driving do to...
So on he drives...
And drives...
And drives...
There's a cool sight along the road
(ode to no train-chasing)
He doesn't stop...
We need gas.
His intensity keeps him glued to the wheel
Making me do everything...
He doesn't even eat!
Now I'm really starting to get nervous.
I even try to bribe him...
No dice!
Why is he in this weird trance?
He hasn't even spoken a word...
The sun sets...
He drives...
As if by necessity for a proper road trip, the flashing lights in our mirror force Spiff to finally pull over...
The nice Mr. Officer, who refuses to be photographed, pulls us over for a dim license-plate light.
Trying to keep us out of trouble I do most of the talking while Spiff fumes quietly on the steering wheel.
No tickets, but since Spiff failed to renew his insurance, we get a friendly reminder...
...and a $200+ fine if not addressed immediately.
This is the ticket. The officer makes it out to Spiff, but I have to sign it...
(Spiff can't hold a pen very well, especially when he's furious.)
Thank goodness for the radar detector, or it would've been a speeding fine, too.
10:30pm, New Year's Eve, we Finally arrive.
But not at home!?
Oh yeah, a New Year's Eve party! Of course!
NOW I see why Spiff wanted to get back so bad!!
Lucky dino-rat, get's all the ladies.
Needless to say, his road-fry (and champagne) catchets up to him shortly after midnight and I have to drive him home...
Boy, is it nice to sleep in his own bed...
And the trip officially comes to a close.
Good times, great oldies, and whole lotta driving...
